Welcome to the Heart of the Bluegrass!

Lexington, Kentucky is an area rich in history and traditional values. A great place to live and raise a family. Our stable economy and conservative lifestyle continues to draw business and folks searching for an easier pace of life.

Lexington is 81 miles south of Cincinnati and 74 miles east of Louisville. Within this triangle is more than one-third of Kentucky's population and more than one-half of its manufacturing jobs.

There are many verifiable indicators of the soundness and growth of the economy in Lexington. Businesses are attracted to Lexington's central location in the country. The Bluegrass is located at the center of a 31-state distribution area and is within a 500-mile radius of nearly three-fourths of the manufacturing employment, retail sales and population of the United States.

The University of Kentucky and LexMark International are currently the major public and private sector employers, but citizens also enjoy strong employment opportunities in equine-related businesses, medicine, tobacco, and retail services.

The special character and tradition of Lexington and the Bluegrass is guarded and maintained. Controlled growth is the key to the future of Lexington, because the city is surrounded by thoroughbred horse farms. Lexington is internationally known as the home of the thoroughbred, which each year brings thousands of race fans and Buyers to the city. Gently rolling Bluegrass meadows surrounded by white fences are no more than a 10-minute drive in any direction.

More than 400 horse farms in Central Kentucky have produced one-third of all thoroughbred stakes winners in North America. While the thoroughbred is Lexington's most widely know equine breed, the standardbred, saddle horse, Arabian, Morgan, and many others are common throughout the region.

With so many diverse quality of life features and so very much to offer its residents, Lexington is the perfect place to call home.
